Bronny James went through a serious health scare after suffering cardiac arrest, an incident that seemed to keep him away from NBA courts. However, his resilience and the support of his family have been fundamental in his recovery and his return to professional basketball.

Although at first it appeared he was taking excessive precautions, that phase now seems to be behind him, as he begins to display his best level with the Los Angeles lineup alongside his famous father, LeBron James.

Bronny continues his development in the G League, and from time to time, JJ Redick gives him opportunities with the main roster so he can keep gaining experience and earn more minutes at the professional level.

On this matter, LeBron could not be happier to see his son carving out his own path, something he makes clear every time he is asked about him.

LeBron James’ comments on Bronny

Several reporters noticed that Bronny had significantly improved during his time in the G League, especially with his shooting, consistency, and defensive potential, an area where Redick frequently relies on him when he is on the court.

Because of this, LeBron was asked about his son.

How have you seen his shot get to the point where he’s so comfortable?

A reporter

It’s just getting back to where it was before the incident. He’s always been able to shoot the ball. He’s shot the ball at a high level pretty much throughout his years of playing ball.”… “So I just think the confidence and the rhythm and just getting his strength back and his wind and everything, all everything is just coming back. Like I said before the incident, so it’s not surprising to see him shooting the ball at a high clip.

LeBron James stated.

For James’ son, it was only four minutes on the court during the 116-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets this past Friday, March 27, 2026. He also saw some playing time on Wednesday, March 25, in the matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

Real, meaningful minutes. I couldn’t dream of better. I couldn’t dream of something better than that. Just couldn’t. Especially knowing the path, you know, the road …So, just proud of him. I’m super proud of him. And he belongs. He belongs.”…”I’m back to where I was. Physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, he’s back.

Although there are still lingering doubts about the young player and his arrival with the Lakers, often attributed to his father’s influence, for his own benefit, it might have been better for him to join a team with less media attention to prove he is more than just the son of an active NBA legend.

He also left a positive impression during his time with the USC Trojans. However, the cardiac arrest he suffered during a practice in 2023 changed everything. After passing all medical evaluations, he was able to return to the court.

By 2024, he became the 55th overall pick in the draft. Now, it remains to be seen whether he truly has the talent to secure a place with the Lakers once his father decides to retire or leave the team, no longer providing his presence and support within the organization.
