LeBron James receives a message from Stephen Curry that suggests they will both retire from the NBA very soon

As the NBA offseason rolls on, many players are using the break to relax and explore hobbies away from basketball. One of the league’s biggest stars, LeBron James, recently shared a new interest with his fans-golf.

Posting on Instagram to his nearly 160 million followers, the Los Angeles Lakers forward gave a glimpse into his early golf swings, marking the beginning of what could become a new passion.

While trade rumors and buyout speculation have surrounded James this summer, his social media presence tells a different story.

Instead of addressing any NBA chatter, LeBron posted casual clips of himself learning how to play golf-teeing off, putting, and embracing the challenge of a totally new sport. Some fans joked in the comments that he might be preparing for retirement by picking up golf.

Among the many reactions to James’ post, one stood out. Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry, who is an accomplished golfer himself, commented: “Welcome. We’ve been waiting for you .” The response was more than just friendly-it was a moment of support between two players whose rivalry once defined an era of NBA basketball.

Curry’s comment wasn’t just about fun and games. He’s a serious golfer, having won the 2023 American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. His skill on the course is widely respected, and he’s become known for his smooth swing and competitive mindset-even outside the NBA.

From rivals to friends on and off the court

The bond between LeBron and Curry has come a long way. Once intense competitors during four consecutive NBA Finals matchups between 2015 and 2018, the two superstars have since grown closer.

Their connection strengthened after playing together for Team USA and winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. According to interviews, the experience deepened their mutual respect and forged a lasting friendship.

Curry’s warm welcome into the golf world shows how their relationship has shifted. What was once seen as a fiery rivalry has evolved into a friendship filled with mutual admiration. Some fans even call it a “bromance” that reflects their growth both as athletes and individuals.

While LeBron is still learning the ropes on the golf course, Curry’s encouragement could be the push he needs to take the sport more seriously. Don’t be surprised if the two are seen teeing off together in the near future-possibly even in a charity match or celebrity tournament.

For now, their story is a reminder that even the fiercest competitors can find common ground-sometimes quite literally, on the green.
