LeBron James has just shocked the world by announcing he will make “the decision of all decisions” on October 7th. Is it retirement, a trade, or something else? We still don’t know, but what is not debatable is that his legacy will last forever.

During his 22 seasons in the NBA, ‘The King’ has set a long list of records. Some of them may never be broken and others will require another generational talent to rewrite them.

There won’t be another LeBron

James has set records in multiple categories: points, assists, minutes played, All Star Game appearances – the list goes on and on.

Enjoy LeBron while he’s still playing in the NBA; it will likely be decades before another talent like him steps onto an NBA court again.

Statistical records:

  • Most points in the NBA: With over 50,000 points scored, LeBron James holds the record for the most points in NBA history, combining the regular season and playoffs.
  • Most points in the NBA regular season: 41,924 points
  • Most consecutive regular-season scoring games: 1,550 consecutive games, all of which he has played
  • Most minutes played: 58,620 minutes in the regular season
  • Most field goal attempts: 30,386 regular-season shots, leading this category
  • Most games played: 1,837 career games, including both the regular season and playoffs

He also holds fourth place in assists, with 11,504 in the regular season (behind only Jason Kidd, Chris Paul and John Stockton); sixth place in steals, with 2,327 regular season steals; eighth place in two point attempts, with 25,889; and ninth place in defensive rebounds, with 9,875 in the regular season.

Another bunch of impressive records:

  • Youngest player to be selected as the #1 pick in the Draft: 18 years and 182 days
  • Youngest player to be named All-Star Game MVP: 21 years and 55 days
  • Most All-Star Game selections: 21
  • Most All-NBA First Team selections: 13
  • Most playoff wins: 183
  • Most playoff games: 287
  • Only player to win Finals MVP with three different franchises: Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers

We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to know the truth about LeBron James’ news, but most likely it’s retirement.
