The “Second Decision“, teased by LeBron James as a major announcement, went down about as well as a shot of Hennessy would for a non-drinker. Instead of James updating fans on his basketball future, it was an ad for the cognac company. Suffice to say, fans were not happy with how it all went down.
Ultimately, James did technically update everyone on his basketball future during the ad, confirming that he will be back for a 23rd season in the NBA. For now, it will be with the Los Angeles Lakers. That should have Lakers fans happy, but it has actually had the opposite reaction. In fact, one Lakers fans has gone as far as to literally sue James for the “Second Decision”.
Andrew Garcia sues LeBron James for $856
Andrew Garcia, a Lakers fan, is suing James for “fraud, deception and misrepresentation“. He’s hoping to recover $865.66, the price of two tickets he purchased for the Lakers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game on March 31, 2026.
In Garcia’s eyes, if James announced that this upcoming season would be his last, it would make that game the player’s final one against his former team. While that still may be the case, Garcia doesn’t want to wait around to find out.
Garcia is actually a huge fan of James, and says the lawsuit is about “principle”, not money. He didn’t like the way James went about his business, although that may not be enough of a good argument to win the case.
