LeBron James gave Jaylen Brown a piece of his mind for bad-mouthing Bronny

The 2025 NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco introduced a revamped format, featuring four teams led by legendary captains.

Among the notable selections were LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, both chosen for Shaquille O’Neal’s team, “Shaq’s OGs.” This selection was particularly intriguing given the longstanding rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics.

LeBron’s last-minute withdrawal and notable handshake snub

Just over an hour before tipoff, James shocked fans by announcing he would not be playing due to ongoing ankle and foot discomfort. His withdrawal marked the end of his record-breaking 20 consecutive All-Star starts. Despite sitting out, he remained present, interacting with teammates in the locker room before the game.

However, one moment stood out-James greeted all his fellow All-Stars with handshakes and hugs, except for Jaylen Brown, whom he acknowledged with only a brief handshake. This seemingly small moment didn’t go unnoticed, sparking speculation among fans and analysts.

Many believe LeBron’s reaction stemmed from comments Jaylen Brown made during the Summer League regarding LeBron‘s son, Bronny James.

“I don’t think Bronny is a pro,” Brown had stated while discussing the young guard’s potential.

These remarks gained traction on social media at the time, and fans were quick to connect them to LeBron‘s cool reception of Brown at the All-Star Game.

Social media buzzed with reactions, with fans speculating that James had not forgotten Brown‘s words.

“He’s still mad about what Jaylen said,” were the thoughts of one fan.

“You’re not allowed to be honest about Bronny,” added another.

Bronny James, now in his first year with the Lakers, has seen limited playing time, primarily appearing in non-critical moments. Over 17 games, he has recorded 23 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. However, in a recent game against the Utah Jazz, he posted a career-high nine points, showing signs of improvement.

While LeBron‘s absence from the All-Star Game drew mixed reactions, with some believing another player deserved his spot, the four-time champion maintained that prioritizing his health was crucial for the Lakers‘ playoff push.
