Your dad might be LeBron James, one of the most legendary NBA players of all time. But at the end of the day, Zhuri James still just sees him as what he is to her: dad.
Zhuri may not fully grasp the level of worldwide fame her father has, but one thing’s for sure-getting embarrassed in front of her entire school by him it’s going to take a while to get over.
When being famous isn’t so fun
LeBron has always made it a priority to show up for his kids, whether it’s at their school events or on the court for their games. For Zhuri, having their dad courtside of one of her volleyball games might feel normal by now, but for the rest of the school is like a once-in-a-lifetime celebrity sighting.
But no matter who your parents are, there comes an age where their presence-no matter how cool they might be-can make you cringe. Zhuri might be the youngest at home, but at school, she’s just like any other kid trying to blend in.
The ultimate dad move at the worst time
That all changed when LeBron, in a moment of pure dad energy, called her “Munchkin” in front of the entire school during a moment of silence. The crowd stood still, all eyes on Zhuri-and let’s just say, she was not having it. Her glare in response was the ultimate look of “Dad, please stop.”
At the end of the day, LeBron James may be a global superstar, but to Zhuri, he’s just an over-the-top dad who can’t help himself. And while she might not appreciate the moment now, one day, she’ll look back and realize-having LeBron James as your biggest (and most embarrassing) fan isn’t the worst thing in the world.
