LeBron James celebrates A’ja Wilson’s game-winning shot and MVP dominance

LeBron James has never shied away from recognizing greatness and this week, he made sure A’ja Wilson got her flowers.

After the Las Vegas Aces star hit a dramatic turnaround jumper with less than a second left to defeat the Phoenix Mercury 90-88 in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals, James joined fans and athletes alike in celebrating the moment.

Wilson‘s game-winner capped a sensational performance and sparked a wave of admiration across the basketball world.

Nike, one of Wilson‘s major sponsors, shared a tribute post on social media calling her “the MVP,” to which LeBron responded in emphatic fashion.

“FACTS!!!!!!!!” James wrote, echoing the sentiment of fans who have watched Wilson dominate on both ends of the floor throughout the postseason.

Like James, Wilson is a four-time league MVP, earning the honor for the second consecutive year in 2025.

The Aces forward, already a two-time WNBA Finals MVP, has continued to cement her legacy as one of the most dominant players in the sport. With her latest heroics, she now has Las Vegas on the doorstep of a third championship in four year.

A dominant performance and a moment of mutual respect

Wilson‘s Game 3 performance was nothing short of extraordinary. She finished with 34 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, delivering under pressure in a way that few players can.

Her go-ahead jumper over a double team sent Michelob ULTRA Arena into chaos and gave the Aces a commanding series lead over the Mercury.

For LeBron, who has long supported Wilson as both a fan and a fellow Nike athlete, the postgame celebration was another chance to highlight her impact.

The two share a mutual respect that goes beyond endorsements, a recognition of the rare consistency and leadership required to sustain MVP-level excellence year after year.

James‘ latest post follows a pattern of public support for Wilson. When she captured the 2024 WNBA MVP award, he praised her with equal enthusiasm. “THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!!!!” he wrote at the time. That endorsement carried weight coming from a player who has spent more than two decades setting the standard for greatness in professional basketball.

Now, as Wilson continues her playoff march, that connection between the two stars underscores how excellence in women’s basketball is increasingly receiving the spotlight it deserves.

Wilson‘s achievements have not only fueled the Aces‘ success but also helped elevate the WNBA’s profile to new heights.
