LeBron James is having a busy offseason, as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has made it clear to his team that he wants to compete for a championship now and not in a couple of years.
The Purple and Gold has given signs that the franchise is trying to move on from the Akron native and instead build a roster around the Slovenian shooting guard Luka Doncic.
That could include second year guard Bronny James – the oldest son of LeBron James -, who looked more comfortable running the offense and continued to shoot the 3-point well during the Lakers Summer League run. Bronny was one of the few bright spots with the hope that he can have meaningful minutes with the team during the 2025-2026 regular season.
LeBron and Savannah James singing their lungs out
LeBron James was caught on video singing Kendrick Lamar‘s ultimate Drake diss song “Not Like Us” with full energy and zero hesitation. Savannah James – LeBron’s wife and mother to his three kids – sings every word too, surrounded by Maverick Carter and friends during what looked like a great summer party.
LeBron used to be close with Drake, even appearing on the Canadian’s rapper/singer 2009 smashing hit “Forever” and partying together multiple times during years. Their relationship first began to blossom following the baller showing up to Drizzy’s Toronto “So Far Gone” mixtape release party in February 2009.
But ever since Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar started beefing with Drake, LeBron seemed to take sides with the California rapper, which hurt the Canadian’s feelings and took it as a personal shot. There seems that there’s no going back with James, as he has doubled down on his support of Lamar.
Bronny James shows clear growth after one year
Bronny James averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 assists, 2.5 boards and 0.8 steals in 24.3 minutes per game during his second NBA Summer League, shooting an efficient 20 for 42 (47.6%), including 35.3% from 3 and 78.6% at the line.
“He’s been great,” said Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Lindsey Harding. “Having his time in the G League, getting more and more confidence and then coming here and taking more minutes and responsibility on his shoulders. Handling the ball much more than he has in the past and making those decisions and reads for us, he’s taken that role on as a leader, that was also part of his growth.”
James looked to have added some significant muscle to his 20-year-old frame, which he confirmed. “Yeah, for sure,” he said. “Definitely using my body more (than in high school, at USC and) when I was first drafted. I wasn’t using my body as well, but the physicality in the NBA is at a way higher level, so I had to get my body right.”
