Amanda Anisimova, a 25-year-old American tennis player who has undergone an impressive physical transformation in recent months, has responded to insinuations that she is taking medication to lose weight.
‘”To all the health experts and professional commentators on other people’s bodies writing in the comments: I am not using Ozempic,” the 2025 Wimbledon and 2025 US Open finalist posted on her social media.’
Amanda Anisimova, who got into an argument with a user on X (Twitter) who accused her of “being too fat,” was blunt on Instagram: “Please leave me alone and do not include me in your posts”.
The amount of people who comment on my body every day on social media… I will never understand what that hyperfixation is about
The WTA world No. 11 has shared her physical transformation with her more than 522,000 followers on Instagram, posting different selfies and photographs.
“The amount of people commenting on my body daily on social media… I’ll never understand the reason for that hyperfixation,” she said in 2023.
In 2026 she stated that “it is constant cyberbullying; they comment on everything, like my body, at all hours, every day”.
The incredible story of Anisimova’s comeback: from leaving tennis for mental health reasons to reaching the Wimbledon final
Anisimova, a professional since the age of 16, won her first title on the clay of Bogotá in 2019. She was 17 years old. Two months later, she would reach the semifinals of Roland Garros.
In 2024, at 21 years old, she took a break due to mental health issues: “I have been dealing with health problems since last summer, and being at a tennis tournament has become unbearable. My priority is my health, and I am taking a break from tennis”.
Anisimova, who lost in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open to Dutch player Arantxa Rus, received insults on social media about her physical appearance.
Fortunately, she returned to tennis months later: “Deep down, I always knew that, no matter how long the break took, I would return to the tour. I still felt there were many things I wanted to achieve in this sport. Winning a Grand Slam is undoubtedly one of them, and I didn’t want to leave so soon after sacrificing a large part of my life and working so hard”.’
“Upon returning, I discovered a new passion. I feel that it is a passion I didn’t feel back then, or perhaps when I was a teenager. Every victory is much more special now,” she confessed emotionally.
