Las Vegas Aces secured the first WNBA Playoff victory over Seattle Storm 102-77 and accumulate a positive streak of 17 consecutive wins.

The Becky Hammon-led team last lost to the Minnesota Lynx on August 2 by 58 points. However, since that same day, the Aces have not lost a single game.

Aces rewrite WNBA history

With a new victory, the team made history and became the second team to accumulate this number of consecutive victories.

Aces surpassed Phoenix Mercury’s 16 wins in 2014 and trailed only the Los Angeles Sparks, who in 2001 totaled 18 wins led by Lisa Leslie and won the title that year.

As if that wasn’t enough, A’ja stole all the looks with her 29 points in 30 minutes of action. She also added 8 rebounds and two assists and climbed the all-time playoff rankings. She ranked 10th in points and 8th in rebounds and free throws.

And her teammates also had a big impact on the game: Jackie Young scored 18 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds, while NaLyssa Smith also added 11 points and nine rebounds.

On the other hand, this victory also meant Storm’s worst loss in playoffs. Gabby Williams scored 16 points, along with four other teammates who scored in double digits, but it was not enough to put a stop to Las Vegas.

The Aces qualified in second place behind only the Lynx and are one of the favorite teams for the title.

Now, they could have a chance to secure another win on Tuesday and eliminate Seattle, while tying Sparks for the longest consecutive winning streak. Will they do it?
