Larry Fitzgerald and Drew Brees headline a historic group of NFL Hall of Fame finalists

The regular season might be nearing its conclusion, but for a select group of football icons, the most important “game” of their lives is just beginning. As the league prepares for the postseason, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has officially narrowed down the candidates for the Class of 2026. Fifteen modern-era legends have reached the final stage of the selection process, standing on the doorstep of Canton. This year’s list is particularly top-heavy, featuring a trio of first-year eligible stars who defined their respective franchises for nearly two decades.

Brees, Fitzgerald, and Manning Headline the Finalists

Among the fifteen names, three standouts carry the kind of resumes that make their induction feel like an absolute certainty. Drew Brees enters his first year of eligibility as one of the most prolific passers to ever pick up a pigskin. After a solid start with the San Diego Chargers, Brees became a legend with the New Orleans Saints, leading the city to a Super Bowl title following Hurricane Katrina and finishing his career with over 80,000 passing yards, a mark that was once thought to be unreachable but Tom Brady exists.

Joining him is Larry Fitzgerald, the epitome of class and consistency during his 17-year tenure with the Arizona Cardinals. “Fitz” currently sits second all-time in both career receptions and receiving yards, trailing only Jerry Rice. His legendary 2008 postseason run remains the gold standard for wide receiver dominance.

Then there is Eli Manning, the two-time Super Bowl MVP who famously led the New York Giants to two historic upsets over the New England Patriots dynasty. While his career was defined by its “Iron Man” durability and high-stakes poise, Manning’s legacy as a “giant-killer” makes him one of the most debated and anticipated finalists in recent memory.

The Road to Canton and the Complete Finalist List

The final slate of candidates will be weighed by the Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee in the days leading up to Super Bowl LX. The world will find out who officially made the cut on February 5, during the “NFL Honors” broadcast live from the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. While the “Big Three” are grabbing the headlines, they are surrounded by an incredible supporting cast of finalists who helped shape the modern NFL.

The remaining finalists include automatic holdovers from last year’s final cut, Willie Anderson (Bengals/Ravens), Torry Holt (Rams/Jaguars), Luke Kuechly (Panthers), and the league’s all-time leading scorer, Adam Vinatieri (Patriots/Colts). Rounding out this historic group are:

  • Frank Gore (49ers/Colts/Dolphins/Bills/Jets)
  • Terrell Suggs (Ravens/Cardinals/Chiefs)
  • Reggie Wayne (Colts)
  • Jahri Evans (Saints/Packers)
  • Kevin Williams (Vikings/Seahawks/Saints)
  • Jason Witten (Cowboys/Raiders)
  • Darren Woodson (Cowboys)
  • Marshal Yanda (Ravens)

Whether it’s the offensive dominance of Witten and Wayne or the defensive tenacity of Suggs and Woodson, the Class of 2026 is shaping up to be one of the deepest in the history of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
