Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has addressed concerns regarding the severity of a recent foot injury, following reports suggesting the team may have downplayed the situation.

Jackson exited practice early on Wednesday after his foot was stepped on, prompting questions about his readiness for the upcoming NFL season.

Head coach John Harbaugh provided clarification on Thursday, confirming that X-rays were negative and Jackson would not face long-term issues.

“I’m sure it’s a little sore today so we just kept him in, but he’s fine. He’s going to be good,” Harbaugh stated.

“Prayers do get answered,” reassuring fans that Jackson‘s injury was minor.

Despite these assurances, NFL insider Adam Schefter suggested that the injury could be more serious than reported, raising further concern among observers.

Jackson responded directly on social media, posting a laughing emoji and tagging Schefter on ESPN’s NFL Instagram account.

The comment quickly gained traction across platforms, including Twitter, signaling Jackson‘s disagreement with the narrative.

Schefter made clear the Ravens were being cautious

Schefter later acknowledged that the Ravens‘ cautious approach to Jackson‘s practice workload was appropriate.

“They don’t have to have Lamar Jackson out there right now,” he noted.

“They need him out there for the start of the regular season, so I would imagine they’d give that foot a couple of weeks to heal.”

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing Jackson‘s long-term health.

“They’re going to be smart with Lamar Jackson and they’re not going to stick him out there any sooner than he has to be.”

Jackson enters the 2025 season following a standout 2024 campaign that built on his 2023 MVP performance. He passed for 4,172 yards with 41 touchdowns and four interceptions while also rushing for 915 yards and four touchdowns, demonstrating his dual-threat capabilities.

His performance helped the Ravens secure a 13-4 record, earning the top seed in the AFC, though their playoff run ended with a 27-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round.

The quarterback’s response highlights his control over the narrative concerning his health, particularly as he remains central to Baltimore‘s offensive strategy.

Jackson‘s combination of mobility, accuracy, and playmaking ability makes his availability critical to the team’s success, and the coaching staff’s measured approach reflects the importance of protecting their star player.

As the preseason progresses, the focus will be on Jackson‘s recovery and preparation for the regular season.

While initial concerns over the foot injury sparked debate among fans and analysts, both the Ravens‘ management and Jackson‘s clarification have provided assurance that he is expected to be fully fit.

Jackson‘s 2024 season underscored his status as one of the league’s most dynamic quarterbacks, capable of significantly impacting both passing and rushing facets of the game.

Maintaining his health will be vital for Baltimore‘s ambitions in 2025, with expectations high for both regular-season performance and postseason advancement.
