Lakers fans explode against Gabe Vincent after scoreless disaster vs Hornets

The tension surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers is not only on the court, but also on social media. After the loss to the Charlotte Hornets (135-117), the team’s followers erupted against Gabe Vincent, who finished the game with 0 points, 0 assists, and 0 steals, in addition to missing all seven of his shot attempts and committing four fouls in just 15 minutes.

His performance has been the subject of constant criticism, and now fans are demanding a radical change: bringing inChris Paul, who had an abrupt exit from the Clippers and is now seen as the perfect replacement for Vincent, a player who carries an 11 million dollar salary this season but with numbers that raise questions about whether that figure is justified. He averages 5.1 points per game, 1.4 assists, shoots only 33.7 percent from the field, and adds just 0.9 rebounds on average.

The situation for the Lakers guard is complicated, and the comments on social media did not take long to arrive. “He can’t be worse than Gabe Vincent,” one user wrote on X. Another added: “Get him out already and bring the Point God.” There were even those who stated: “Definitely better than Gabe. There’s no debate.”

Options on the market: Lakers searching for a wing and could include Vincent

Beyond the controversy with the fans, the Lakers are exploring moves to strengthen their roster. According to Kevin O’Connor, the franchise is working on a package that would include sending out Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent.

“The word on the street is that they’re looking to package Vanderbilt and Vincent together to get a wing,” O’Connor stated on his podcast.

Vanderbilt, known for his defense, averages 5.1 points and 5.2 rebounds, but his offensive limitations have left him out of the rotation at certain stretches. Vincent, meanwhile, is in the final year of his contract, which makes him an attractive piece for teams that do not want to commit long term.

The Lakers could add draft capital to make the deal more appealing, especially because they want to build with playoff possibilities in mind.

With the team still in the fight for a spot among the top four in the West, any move must balance the present and the future. Meanwhile, the fans continue to apply pressure during a first half of the season that has been complicated for the team. They currently hold a 24-05 record in the Western Conference, while the Oklahoma City Thunder lead with a 35-8 mark.
