Son Heung-Min, the South Korean iconic soccer player, is already making a huge statement with the Los Angeles FC in the MLS.

The Tottenham Hotspur legend rocked the English Premier League, as one of the most popular Asian players in the sports history displayed his talent in one of the best leagues in the world.

The LAFC is currently standing 5th on the Western Conference and they are undefeated since Son joined the club, as the California franchise positions itself to secure home-field avantage in the MLS Playoffs, with the hope of making a deep run.

Son Heung-Min scores first MLS goal

In just his third match for LAFC, Son Heung-Min made his mark with a stunning free kick to put the Black & Gold ahead early against FC Dallas. After striker Denis Bouanga was fouled outside the box, Son stepped up and curled the ball into the top left corner in the 6th minute, leaving the keeper no chance.

The strike was Son’s first-ever MLS goal since joining from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, helping LAFC earn a 1-1 draw and building excitement for what’s to come, which hopefully will be a deep and exciting run into the final stage of the season.

Even though it wasn’t enough for his team to win, the superb goal goes to show how much Son’s impact on the franchise can lead them to winning in a consistent ways. The South Korean international player has what it to takes to change the game in a heartbeat.

Head coach loves Son’s competitive mind set

Los Angeles FC head coach Steve Cherundolo loves the competitiveness he brings to the team. “He’s a competitor, and he’s a winner, and on top of that, he has qualities that not a lot of players have in this league”, he told the media after the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas.

“We’ve had three tough road games. It’s not easy places to play. A lot of travel, some weather, and you come away with five points. But you also put yourselves in position to win these games too, so from my perspective, it’s been a very positive road trip.”

The team’s strong form and Son‘s spectacular first goal only add to the anticipation for his home debut next weekend, a clash with in-state rival San Diego FC, which currently holds the No. 1 spot on the Western Conference.
