Before the fairy-tale wedding, Kylie Kelce nearly derailed her marriage to retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, all because of a missing marriage license.
The 33-year-old mom of four opened up about the hilarious yet stressful incident during the Feb. 12 Galentine’s Day episode of her podcast Not Gonna Lie, joined by her college best friends, Amber and Gab.
Reflecting on her April 2018 wedding, Kylie and her friends laughed over one chaotic moment the night before the ceremony.
“I liked the night before, after the rehearsal dinner, when we had to go find your marriage license,” Gab teased. Kylie, seemingly embarrassed, admitted, “I might have forgotten that.”
Gab continued the story: “It was like 11 or something. We got back from the Reading Terminal and you were like, ‘I don’t have these papers.’ Come on. And we got in your car and tore apart your house until we found them.”
The situation was made even funnier because of Gab‘s video proof from the night. “I have the video of you in the Lower Merion [High School] dog costume because it was after the Super Bowl… and you’re dancing with the mascot head on as Kylie is trying to find her marriage license,” Gab added.
Kylie and Jason’s journey to marriage began years earlier when the couple met on Tinder.
Kylie has shared that Jason’s dating profile caught her attention immediately: “His profile at the time was something along the lines of, ‘I want to have deep meaningful conversations and talk about getting married and having kids,'” she recalled on a September 2023 episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.
Their first date, however, didn’t go perfectly. Kylie laughed recalling, “Forty-five minutes later, he fell asleep at the bar, like just, out, like asleep, asleep.”
Despite the early hiccups, the couple tied the knot at the Logan Hotel in Philadelphia just two months after the Eagles won Super Bowl LII.
Since then, they have built a bustling family with four daughters: Wyatt, 6; Eliotte, 4; Bennett, 2; and Finnley, 10 months.
Parenting, marriage, and life in the spotlight
Beyond wedding chaos, Jason has spoken publicly about the joys and challenges of fatherhood.
In May 2023, he told PEOPLE that being a “girl dad” has been the biggest highlight of his life.
“Before I had children, I told myself if I ever have a daughter, I’m just going to treat them exactly the same as a son. I don’t think that you should treat kids necessarily different,” he said. He admitted that parenthood quickly challenged that mindset: “And then when I had a daughter, I was like, ‘I’m not going to spoil her, I’m going to raise her tough. She’s going to be hard.’ And the moment she came out, I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s not going to work.'”
The Kelces’ story is a reminder that even high-profile couples have relatable, chaotic moments, whether it’s a last-minute search for a marriage license or the challenges of raising four young children.
Kylie’s willingness to share these personal stories on her podcast has endeared her to fans, offering humor and honesty about both marriage and family life in the public eye.
From pre-wedding panic to navigating the highs and lows of parenthood, Kylie and Jason Kelce have shown that teamwork, patience, and laughter can carry a relationship through even the messiest of situations.
