Kylie Kelce wants to bring the WNBA to Philadelphia with a historic investment

Kylie Kelce has long shown that her influence goes far beyond being “Jason Kelce’s wife.” She’s an activist, a former college athlete, and a communicator – and now she’s ready to take an even bigger step: investing in professional women’s basketball. And not just in any project, but in bringing a WNBA team to Philadelphia.

In one of the episodes of her podcast Not Gonna Lie, Kylie spoke enthusiastically about the league’s expansion. What started as a casual conversation with friends has quickly turned into a serious vision. The plan is for the WNBA to arrive in Philadelphia by 2030, and she’s already thinking about how to get involved.

Kylie wants women to lead the way

Following in the footsteps of figures like Patrick Mahomes – who is already pushing to bring the WNBA to Kansas City – Kylie wants to be part of the group leading the charge in Philly. The investment being discussed is $269 million. It’s a massive number, but more importantly, a clear statement: women are ready to take charge in the business of sports.

What stood out most in her message was her desire for the team to be entirely women-owned. “It would be amazing if it were women-owned. If they need more female investors, they should call me,” she said with a smile. Kylie’s goal isn’t just to put money on the table – she wants to help change the way teams are built.

For Kylie, the team’s name matters too

But Kylie isn’t only thinking about the financials. She also wants the new team to have a strong identity – one that truly represents Philadelphia. In the same episode, she criticized names that sounded forced or uninspired, like “76Hers” or “70Sisters,” and suggested a far more compelling alternative: Philadelphia Broad.

The name pays tribute to Broad Street, one of the city’s main arteries, while also nodding to the tough spirit of the legendary Broad Street Bullies from the Flyers. “It’s strong. I love it. It’s authentic and sounds historic,” Kylie explained.

Kylie Kelce has a clear message

What Kylie Kelce is doing isn’t common. She’s using her platform and vision to open doors. She wants other women to feel empowered to invest, lead, and build in the sports world. This isn’t just about a new basketball team – it’s about breaking molds and leaving a lasting mark.

The WNBA’s expansion into Philadelphia promises to be much more than just a sports project. With leaders like Kylie at the forefront, it could become a symbol of what happens when passion, purpose, and female leadership come together.
