The war between Taylor Swift and Philadelphia Eagles fans escalated at Super Bowl LIX when the pop superstar was loudly booed as she appeared on the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome. But in a surprising turn, Kylie Kelce-wife of former Eagles center Jason Kelce-has publicly shown her support for Swift, despite the backlash coming from her own fanbase.
As Swift cheered on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, the stadium erupted with jeers. The unexpected hostility left Swift looking visibly surprised, prompting sports reporter Erin Andrews to defend her on the Calm Down podcast.
“I feel bad for the most famous, amazing woman in the world who f*cking gets booed at the Super Bowl,” Andrews ranted. “Get out of here… I mean, she probably holds the attendance record in the Superdome as an individual, as one person rocking the world.”
Sports Illustrated later shared Andrews’ fiery defense, and Swifties were quick to notice that Kylie Kelce had liked the post-an unexpected move, considering that it was mostly Eagles fans fueling the anti-Swift sentiment. A fan account even posted a screenshot of Kylie’s endorsement, sending Swifties into a frenzy.
Donald Trump added insult to injury
Kylie and Jason Kelce were seated in the same luxury suite as Swift, and while the couple has always been loyal to the Eagles, Kylie’s simple “like” signaled she wasn’t on board with the harsh treatment of her brother-in-law’s girlfriend.
Adding to the drama, President Donald Trump couldn’t resist joining in on the Swift bashing. Taking to Truth Social, he mocked her reception at the game, writing:
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” However, what Trump failed to mention was that he was also booed by the crowd-an awkward moment conveniently left off the broadcast cameras.
An Eagle turned Chief
Swift’s relationship with Philadelphia has been complicated. Born in Pennsylvania, she has previously declared herself an Eagles fan, famously clarifying to a concert crowd in 2023 that her “Eagles t-shirt” lyric referred to the team, not the band.
But ever since she started dating Travis Kelce, Swift has been all-in on the Chiefs, a shift that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the notoriously passionate Philly fanbase.
Despite the boos, Swift remains unfazed, and with Kylie Kelce subtly backing her up, it seems like some Eagles loyalty isn’t enough to turn on her completely.
