Kylie Kelce has shared that her newborn daughter, Finnley, did not have a name during her first full day of life.
The candid revelation came during Thursday’s episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, where she discussed the couple’s process-and uncertainty-around naming their fourth child with Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce.
“For the first 24 hours, she did not have a name,” said Kylie, 33. “She was baby girl Kelce there for a minute, and I considered just letting that one roll.”
According to Kylie, she and Jason, 37, had struggled to finalize a name even after the baby was born. Although they had considered names like Colette-with the nickname “Cole”-and another option that would lead to “Georgie,” Kylie said none of them quite fit.
“I didn’t like anything that got us there,” she explained. “No offense to anyone.”
Recycled inspiration and a familiar middle name
The couple also briefly entertained the name Winnifred, with plans to call the baby “Freddy.” Kylie described the nickname as “badass” and “so cute,” but ultimately, it too was set aside.
It wasn’t until the pair were completing hospital discharge paperwork that they settled on the name Finnley. Interestingly, it wasn’t a name they had been discussing during this pregnancy, but one that was in contention during Kylie’s pregnancy with their now 4-year-old daughter Elliotte.
“We had to run it back to the archives and borrow one from a different child,” Kylie joked.
Now officially named Finnley Anne, the baby joins her three older sisters-Wyatt, 5; Elliotte, 4; and Bennett, 2.
Kylie admitted to poking fun at herself for the choice of middle name, calling Anne “the most generic middle name you could possibly have,” though she added it pays tribute to several important women in her life, including her mother, grandmother, sister, and cousin.
Anticipating reactions to the name’s deviation from the double-“T” pattern seen in her other children’s names, Kylie addressed potential criticism directly.
“I totally respect your opinion on the names of our children, but I actually don’t care what that is,” she said. “And I mean that in the most loving and respectful way.”
The Kelces welcomed Finnley on Sunday and announced her birth via Instagram two days later. Among those to acknowledge the news was Taylor Swift, who quietly liked the post.
Finnley made her first public appearance on Wednesday during a virtual segment of Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
On the show, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis greeted his new niece with a smile and a warm message: “Hey, little muffin. Look at you. You just look adorable, I don’t even have anything to say to you.”
