“Kyle Tucker is better than Juan Soto so far this season”: Who said this challenging phrase?

The dance of the millions in Major League Baseball does not always have an immediate response or one that lives up to the great expectations that arise from the off-season moves, but time is the best measure of impact and to give credit to the big signings, although on many occasions it is necessary to make a cut, in order to evaluate, correct and enhance.

That’s what an MLB analyst did with two of the big signings made by the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs, teams that placed their trust in two elite players who so far have not disappointed almost anyone, but who are being measured, and now, compared in terms of what they bring to their respective teams, despite their disparate contracts. While Juan Soto has a 15-year, $765 million contract, Tampa-born Kyle Tucker signed for a year with the Cubs, and for much, much less money.

Juan Soto has already begun to live up to expectations

Analyst Ryan Dempster shed some light on what he considers to be the best offseason signing in Major League Baseball and when asked on the Intentional Talk podcast, this was his take, which has surprised many: “It’s a good question, because if you had asked this a couple of weeks ago, the obvious answer would be Kyle Tucker. But Juan Soto has certainly started to reveal the truth. I’ll stick with Kyle Tucker and I like this acquisition. This kid has been exactly as expected,” Dempster said.

“Tucker is the centerpiece”

He went on to justify his perspective: “Look at his numbers overall, they’re in line with what he’s going to do this season. He gives away walks, he has control of the strike zone, he’s right-handed and hits left-handed, and he’s been exactly the centerpiece of the lineup that the Cubs needed. I think he’s valuable to their team; he’s probably as important as any other piece we’ve seen this offseason changing teams.”
