Knicks fans lose it after Josh Hart gets touched by Jaylen Brown in a very questionable spot during controversial play

The NBA playoffs are in full swing, with the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks competing in an intense Eastern Conference semifinal series. In Game 5, the Celtics showed their toughness by winning 127-102 at TD Garden, even though Jayson Tatum couldn’t play because of an ankle injury. Derrick White led the charge with 34 points, and Jaylen Brown contributed 26 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high 12 assists in the playoffs. Brown’s performance etched his name alongside Celtics legends Bob Cousy (1959), John Havlicek (1968), and Larry Bird (1984), as he became one of the few to record 25/5/10 in an elimination game.

The Knicks started strong, winning the first quarter but the C’s took over after that. Josh Hart scored a team-high 24 points, and Jalen Brunson added 22 before fouling out with over seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Celtics’ win forces a crucial Game 6 in New York, where the Knicks will aim to close out the series in front of their home crowd at the star-studded Madison Square Garden. Amid this intense backdrop, a controversial moment involving Jaylen Brown has added fuel to the fire.

Brown’s Subtle Gesture Ignites Online Buzz

A video from Game 5 captured a tense exchange between Jaylen Brown and Josh Hart. During a play, Brown appeared to discreetly grab Hart’s groin area. The incident didn’t escalate further and has since gone viral, sparking a flurry of reactions online. Brown avoided a flagrant foul call, and Hart’s restraint prevented the situation from escalating into a brawl, but of ocurse they push each other after. However, the move didn’t go unnoticed. Hart’s wife, Shanon, commented “weird” on the clip when it surfaced on social media.

Brown’s performance on the court was stellar. He joined an elite group of Celtics players who have delivered such numbers in a do-or-die situation. The previous Finals MVP will need to carry the team again in Game 6, which Boston must win to force a Game 7 back in Massachusetts. For the Knicks, who narrowly missed closing out the Detroit Pistons in a similar home scenario during the previous round, heading to Boston for a seventh game is an outcome they’d rather avoid, especially with the Celtics riding high on momentum.

The subtle nature of Brown’s action might have escaped the officials, but it won’t espace the scrutiny of fans. While such moments are not uncommon in the physicality of playoff basketball, they often carry consequences in the form of penalties or heightened tensions between teams. I think it won’t matter for the game tomorrow as both teams are preparing for a pivotal Game 6. The Knicks are aiming to capitalize on their home-court advantage and the enthusiasm of their fans to conclude the series.

Next Stop: A Showdown with the Pacers

The winner of the Knicks-Celtics series will advance to face the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers secured their second consecutive trip to the Eastern Conference Finals by dispatching the regular-season East leaders, the Cleveland Cavaliers. If the Celtics manage a historic comeback, they will face the Pacers again. The Celtics swept the Pacers last year without playing the great basketball that eventually made them champions. If the Knicks prevail, it will be a revisit of the great 2000 series, in which the Pacers defeated them 4-2, led by Reggie Miller.

In the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves have already secured their spot in the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive year. They are awaiting the outcome of tonight’s do-or-die Game 6 between the Denver Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are favored by 4.5 points according to betting odds and are looking to end the series at home. However, the Nuggets’ resilience suggests it will be a tight contest.
