Knicks beat the hated Celtics, but New York fans are furious with the team for a special reason

The New York Knicks have stunned the NBA with back-to-back 20-point comeback victories over the Boston Celtics in the 2025 Eastern Conference semifinals, taking a 2-0 series lead and sending Game 3 ticket prices at Madison Square Garden to record-breaking heights.

After erasing a 20-point deficit in Game 1 for a 108-105 overtime win and repeating the feat in Game 2 with a 91-90 thriller at TD Garden, the Knicks have ignited fan frenzy, making Game 3 a must-see event.

Jalen Brunson has been the Knicks’ heartbeat, scoring 29 points, including five three-pointers, in Game 1, while OG Anunoby matched him with 29, hitting 6-of-11 from deep. “We told each other to keep believing, keep chipping away,” Brunson said, reflecting on the team’s resilience.

In Game 2, New York held Boston to one field goal in the final five minutes, with Mikal Bridges’ defense and Josh Hart’s hustle proving pivotal. The Knicks’ physicality disrupted Boston’s shooters, who went 15-for-60 from three in Game 1, setting an NBA playoff record with 45 misses.

Knicks’ double comeback magic drives Game 3 tickets to all-time high

Ticket platform TickPick reports that Game 3, set for Saturday, May 10, at MSG, is the most expensive Knicks game ever, with a get-in price of $704, up 47% from $479 pre-series. The average purchase price is $829, the second-highest for a Knicks playoff home game, with courtside seats reaching $109,082 for a pair. Posts on X note a 175% price surge from Game 1’s $301 average, reflecting the electric atmosphere awaiting New York’s return.

Karl-Anthony Towns‘ 13 rebounds in Game 1 and Bridges’ game-sealing steal on Jaylen Brown in overtime highlight the Knicks’ grit. Despite Boston’s regular-season dominance, where Jayson Tatum averaged 33.5 points across four wins, the Knicks have flipped the script. “We’re just going to keep fighting until the clock hits zero,” Bridges said, capturing the team’s tenacity. Game 2’s comeback, overcoming a 20-point hole, marks the first time an NBA team has won consecutive playoff games after trailing by 20 or more.

With Games 3 and 4 at MSG, the Knicks aim to harness the Garden’s raucous energy. Boston, reeling from two home losses, must counter New York’s defensive intensity. As fans pay premium prices to witness this historic run, the Knicks’ relentless spirit has turned this series into a playoff spectacle, with ticket costs soaring alongside their championship hopes.
