The Las Vegas Raiders are the only one of the ten teams that were searching for a head coach that has not yet made an official announcement. The reason is simple: they are waiting for the Super Bowl to conclude so they can name Klint Kubiak, the current offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks, as their new head coach. Kubiak will be tasked with fixing a franchise that has been dealing with numerous issues.
There was not much confidence in the Seahawks heading into the season, largely due to Sam Darnold. Although Darnold was coming off a solid year with the Vikings, his career had been inconsistent. However, Kubiak earned significant respect as Darnold looked impressive under his system, throwing for over 4,000 yards during the season and leading the Seahawks all the way to the Super Bowl.
To make matters even more impressive, Seattle’s offense has looked outstanding in its two playoff games. Despite Sam Darnold playing through an injury, the Seahawks scored a combined 72 points against the 49ers and the Rams in the NFC Championship Game. Because of this, Kubiak has clearly earned his opportunity to become a head coach, and that opportunity will come with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Former Chiefs quarterback recommends Fernando Mendoza
At the start of the NCAA season, Fernando Mendoza was not considered one of the top prospects to be well positioned for the NFL Draft. Most of the attention was on Arch Manning, who is expected to return for another year with the Texas Longhorns. However, the Indiana Hoosiers quarterback put together a spectacular season and is now just one step away from becoming the quarterback of the Las Vegas Raiders.
With Klint Kubiak set to become the Raiders’ head coach, he is expected to pair up with Fernando Mendoza. Former Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel believes the combination is a perfect fit.
“I love this so much. I love the fit between Fernando Mendoza and Klint Kubiak. I’ve been all-in on this Fernando Mendoza film,” Daniel said. “Think about Klint Kubiak’s offense, what he’s been able to do. Look at his offense now with Sam Darnold. Under center, play action, a lot of shifts and motions.”
Kubiak, currently the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks, will officially be named head coach of the Raiders once the Super Bowl concludes. He has the ideal profile to maximize Fernando Mendoza’s talent, just as he did with Sam Darnold in his first year working together-turning him into a 4,000-yard quarterback and, more importantly, a player who trusted himself.
The Raiders still have a long road ahead, and the task will not be easy for Klint Kubiak. He must rebuild the team, identify talent, and compete in a tough AFC West that includes playoff-caliber teams like the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Chargers, and Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs. A major challenge lies ahead.
