Klay Thompson hits 72 straight 3-pointers and fans attributed it to relationship with Megan Thee Stallion

Klay Thompson is putting the work during this offseason to improve his numbers with the Dallas Mavericks and make the Texas team a contender in the Western Conference.

The shooting guard who spent 12 of his first 13 seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors – where he won four championships alongside Stephen Curry – wants to compete for another Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Klay will need all the help he can get from All-Star forward/center Anthony Davis – who has dealt with injuries throughout his entire career -, rookie sensation Cooper Flagg, and former superstar point guard Kyrie Irving – when he comes back from a torn ACL.

Klay Thompson hits 72 straight 3-pointers

Klay Thompson just lit up the gym in a workout session with trainer Chris Brickley. The Dallas Mavericks shooting guard nailed 72 consecutive 3-pointers, showing off elite form and focus as he gears up for the 2025-26 season.

While Klay‘s been putting in serious work this offseason, fans have other theories. Many believe his hot streak is linked to his new relationship with rapper and singer Megan Thee Stallion, which he recently made public. Thompson has been nothing but smiles since the announcement.

Coming off a down year by his standards, Klay looks more locked in than ever. Whether it’s the Mavs system or Megan’s magic, one thing’s clear, he’s back to looking like a Splash Brother with something to prove: that he can win another championship without one of the best shooters in the NBA history, Stephen Curry.

A former high pick in the Draft hopes to add fuel to the Mavs

During his 10-year NBA career, guard D’Angelo Russell has had the sort of momentous highlights that you’d expect out of someone drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 2 overall pick. As recently as 2023, Russell had 31 points in a Game 6 close-out of Memphis in the first round of the playoffs.

That recent production, plus his body of work as a former All-Star and a career 36.5 percent three-point shooter convinced the Dallas Mavericks that the 6’3 Russell is the man they need to bridge the gap at point guard until Kyrie Irving returns from knee surgery, perhaps in January or February.

The Mavericks made Russell their primary target in terms of incoming free agents. They don’t have a lot of salary cap space with which to work. But they made the most of what they had. And they also took care of business internally by re-signing Irving to a three-year contract, which reduced his salary for next season just enough to give the Mavs wiggle room under the second apron of the luxury tax.
