Kike Hernandez says Ohtani is lying about his MVP designation

Shohei Ohtani was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National League Championship Series after his tremendous performance in Game 4 against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher and hitter threw six innings without allowing a hit and hit three home runs, accumulating historic single-game records.

However, his humble gesture of mentioning that it was a “team effort” did not convince Kike Hernandez, who did not hesitate to point out the magnitude of Ohtani’s individual performance. Hernandez told The Athletic:

Shohei lies and says the MVP was a team effort. I yelled at him that he was full of lies because he was the one who hit three home runs and who struck out 10 that night

Shohei Ohtani continues to break records in Major League Baseball

The fourth game will go down in MLB history for Shohei Ohtani’s performance, as the Japanese became the 11th player to hit three home runs in a postseason game and the second pitcher in history to do so, after Jim Tobin in 1942. He also led off the game with a home run and was the first Dodgers pitcher to hit a postseason home run

The home runs represented three of the Dodgers’ five runs in the 5-1 victory that clinched the series, once again proving that their impact is decisive for their team. In addition, within what is salvageable from the start of the World Series for Los Angeles is that Ohtani is still on fire with the bat as he also got a HR in the final stretch of the first of the Fall Classic and his first of his career at this stage

The Dodgers need Shohei Ohtani and his power at bat in the World Series

The Most Valuable Player award of the Championship Series has taken a back seat with the Dodgers’ 11-4 defeat in the first World Series clash against the Toronto Blue Jays, a team that came from behind once again to take the first victory and put Dave Roberts’ team in trouble, which will need the Japanese to get a win in their visit to Canada and return to Dodger Stadium with confidence.

In addition, the Japanese is expected to return to the mound for one of the games to be played in Los Angeles, making his debut as a pitcher in a World Series, remembering that in 2024 he was only in the batter’s box due to his injury. Game 2 of the Fall Classic takes place on Saturday, October 25 at Rogers Centre at 8:00 p.m. (ET).
