Kevin Love is going through tough times, not only in his professional career with Miami Heat, but also personally as he shared on his social networks the passing of his father, Stan Love.
“Dad, you fought for a long time” he begins by saying in a heartbreaking post on his personal Instagram account. There he told that it was painful to see him “deteriorate” the last days, he remained his “Giant”, his “Protector” and his “first Hero”.
Kev highlighted his experience as a professional and as “the greatest teacher” and, although he admitted that -like everyone- he was imperfect, they are “a father and son success story”. He lamented the time they lost over differences, but was grateful for their final lesson: “how to die in peace about how you’ve lived…. Dad loved his family unconditionally and left his children with one of life’s great lessons.”
Kevin closed his post by saying, “Dad, I’m so proud to be your son. My only hope is that you’re proud of me. It was all I ever wanted. Thank you for everything. I love you. Your son, Kevin.”
The Heats player accompanied his post with a photo of his father looking young and a second photo of them holding hands.
Miami Heats suffer the absence of Kevin Love
Kevin is in his 17th season in the NBA. However, he has missed the last 10 regular season games with the Heat due to personal reasons.
Although he rejoined the Heat for the first game of the play-in tournament against the Chicago Bulls on April 16, he was absent again for personal reasons and has yet to return.
Following the announcement of his father’s passing, Kevin is not expected to be a part of the team this Monday night at the Kaseya Center during Game 4 of their first round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The former player wore the jerseys of Baltimore Bullets, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs (then in the ABA) after being ninth overall in the 1971 Draft.
He also averaged 6.8 points and four rebounds per game in the NBA.
