Kevin Stefanski’s weakness with the Browns is leading them to a point of no return

When things stop working, any situation, no matter how small, gets magnified and triggers a chain reaction that makes everything worse. That was exactly the case between young Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his teammate, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

In their Week 13 matchup, the Browns faced the San Francisco 49ers hoping for better luck. However, the West Coast team is a far stronger opponent than the Las Vegas Raiders, against whom Cleveland had earned a win that only briefly disguised deeper issues.

The game began well for Cleveland’s offense, which managed to put points on the board, but that momentum lasted only a moment. Once Brock Purdy found his rhythm, San Francisco’s offense came alive, and that was the end of the Browns’ aspirations.

It was a shame, considering the outstanding defense the team has, one that continues to be wasted year after year without a reliable offensive unit capable of turning them into a consistently competitive franchise.

The Browns relied too heavily on their ground attack

Everything indicates that Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski still does not fully trust Shedeur Sanders’ abilities. In this matchup against the Niners, the Browns leaned excessively on the running game, becoming entirely predictable.

In total, they ran the ball 31 times. It must also be acknowledged that the bad weather played a major role in this decision, as did Sanders’ highly erratic performance. The young quarterback simply failed to connect with his receivers.

When expectations suggested he might finally develop chemistry with the team’s few offensive bright spots, most notably wideout Jerry Jeudy, each drive instead became a new source of frustration. A series of poor throws ultimately led to Jeudy’s complete exasperation, culminating in him confronting his quarterback on the sideline.

As expected, the incident quickly went viral and unleashed an overwhelming wave of commentary.

Kevin Stefanski addresses the altercation between Shedeur Sanders and Jerry Jeudy

For Stefanski, these kinds of moments happen frequently within families, and because the team considers itself one, it is not exempt from such situations.

When you’re a family, like we are, you’re going to have your disagreements.” … “Sometimes they are for everybody to see. Sometimes it’s behind closed doors. But like a family, we move on. We talked about it, so I’m not worried about it.

Stefanski said on Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

The Browns’ head coach did not reveal details of what was discussed between Sanders and Jeudy during the game. However, he did clarify that Sanders will remain the team’s starting quarterback for the upcoming matchup.

With this next appearance, Shedeur will make his third start, hoping he finally establishes better chemistry with his receiver.
