Kevin Stefanski receives the solution to keep Shedeur Sanders from finishing the season blank

The 2025 NFL season has been terrible for the Cleveland Browns. The team is 1-5, and their only win came with a quarterback who is no longer on the roster. That’s why one analyst is suggesting an unconventional solution that could please Shedeur Sanders fans.

Much has been made about the Browns’ offseason. With four quarterbacks on the roster, head coach Kevin Stefanski was forced to make drastic decisions to stabilize his starting lineup.

First, he fired fifth-year quarterback Kenny Pickett and moved veteran Joe Flacco under center. This left Dillon Gabriel as the backup and Sanders as the third in line.

By Week 4, it became clear Flacco wasn’t the solution, so Stefanski gave the starting job to Gabriel. The rookie hasn’t been able to keep the ship afloat either, and one analyst proposed an unusual solution: split the remaining games.

Split the games between Gabriel and Sanders?

Since Gabriel hasn’t produced the results Stefanski had hoped for, Nick Wilson of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland proposed an unusual experiment: give eight of the remaining games to Gabriel and seven to Sanders.

“Kevin [Stefanski] likes Dillon more. Give him eight games, and that will still leave, as long as Dillon’s healthy enough to play eight games, that still gives Shedeur five games.”

Nick Wilson

“It’s not what maybe Shedeur fans want,” Wilson admitted. “It’s probably not as fair a shake as it should be, but five games are still enough to prove yourself.”

However, the Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers took points off Gabriel, so Wilson had to admit, “But after last week, I would say, seven games for Dillon Gabriel and six for Shedeur Sanders.”

The decisive game for Dillon Gabriel

With fans desperate for results, the pressure on Gabriel is enormous. However, the Browns will face one of the few teams that are even with them this week, the Miami Dolphins.

With a 1-5 record, Miami would be last in the AFC East if not for the 0-6 New York Jets. Their defense is among the worst. In the NFL, they are the fourth-most points allowed and the 12th-most yards allowed.

This is Gabriel’s chance to show what he’s made of; otherwise, Shedeur will surely get the opportunity he and his fans have been waiting for since the offseason.
