Kelsey Plum, the newly acquired star of the Los Angeles Sparks, has expressed high praise for the team’s young core and their potential. During her introductory press conference, Plum shared her excitement about joining a team brimming with promising talent, particularly highlighting the abilities of Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson, and Rae Burrell.

Plum specifically commended Brink, stating, “I think Cam is a Defensive Player of the Year just waiting to brew.” She emphasized Brink’s defensive prowess, noting that before her season-ending ACL injury, Brink was averaging 2.3 blocks per game. Plum believes Brink has the potential to become one of the best defensive players in the WNBA.

The Sparks’ young core has been a topic of much discussion, and Plum’s endorsement adds to the optimism surrounding the team’s future. With Plum’s leadership and experience, combined with the talent of Brink and other young players, the Sparks are poised for a strong season ahead.

It did not take long to make bold statements

Plum’s arrival in Los Angeles comes after a blockbuster trade that sent her from the Las Vegas Aces to the Sparks. The trade has generated excitement among fans and players alike, with Brink herself expressing her enthusiasm for having Plum as a teammate.

As the Sparks gear up for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on how Plum and the young core perform together. With Plum’s high praise for Brink and the rest of the team, there is a sense of optimism and anticipation for what the future holds.

The expectations are high for the team but also for Plum as she embarks on a new adventure in the WNBA. The stakes are high and she knows that there is much to do to try and capture a league championship, especially after what she said.
