Although Indiana Fever let a big win slip away against the Los Angeles Sparks in the last minute, 89-87, there are still plenty of reasons to celebrate.

In addition to winning their first trophy since 2012 after defeating the Minnesota Lynx and becoming Commissioner’s Cup champions, the Fever squad has received some great news.

Not only has Caitlin Clark been announced as captain of the WNBA All-Star Game, which came as a surprise since the 23-year-old has missed eight games this season due to injury, but 23-year-old power forward Aliyah Boston was also honored as a starter in the game.

And as if that weren’t enough, Kelsey Mitchell also shone. Although the rosters are already set, the WNBA announced who the team reserves will be, and the 29-year-old guard’s name is on the list.

With 19.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, Mitchell will be playing in the All-Star Game for the third consecutive time in her eighth season with the Fever.

This fact did not go unnoticed by the team, who shared an announcement on their official X account, formerly Twitter, saying: “Kelsey Mitchell continues to shine bright. Congrats to Kelz on becoming a 3x WNBA All-Star!“

Fan support

Of course, fans were quick to react and congratulate her, as well as stating that she should also be part of the team:

“Should have been a starter tbh,” “Well deserved! Congrats Kelsey!,” “Kelz!!! None of this would be possible without you. The best shooting guard in the League,” were some of the comments left by fans on the Indiana Fever post.

And, to add a reason that will make Indiana fans feel special, the WNBA All-Star Game will be played on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. This way, Clark, Boston, and Mitchell will have the opportunity to represent the Fever at home.
