Kelsey Mitchell reveals a “big” nickname for Aliyah Boston as they praise each other for their achievements at Indiana Fever

Just when it seemed that Indiana Fever was recovering from the absence of Caitlin Clark, a new defeat shook them. The team lost 100-91 to the Los Angeles Sparks, ending their five-game winning streak.

This defeat leaves the Fever with a 17-13 record, placing them fifth in the WNBA. However, a detail between two of their players did not go unnoticed.

Boston and Mitchell praise each other

During the 78-74 victory over the Seattle Storm, Kelsey Mitchell did not have the best of nights, missing all eight of her three-point attempts, although she managed to score nine points, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

On the other hand, it was a dream night for Aliyah Boston: she scored 16 points and established herself as the Indiana player with the most consecutive double-doubles, surpassing Caitlin Clark. In addition, she was awarded “Eastern Conference Player of the Week” by the WNBA.

Mitchell did not hesitate to show her pride in her teammate for her new record, affectionately nicknaming her “the BIG baby…” Kelsey wrote, alongside the team’s post announcing Aliyah’s achievement.

Now, in the game against the Sparks, the situation changed: although Boston scored 15 points, 4 assists, and 9 rebounds, Mitchell was the one who stood out the most.

Not only was she the team’s top scorer, but she was also the game’s top scorer with 34 points. In addition, Aliyah added six assists and two rebounds.

Of course, this achievement did not go unnoticed by the team, which posted her numbers and commented on the post, saying, “a 34-point performance for Kelsey Mitchell in LA.” And it was Boston who shared this post in their stories. And although they didn’t add anything, it wasn’t necessary: the numbers and their friendship spoke louder than words.

Now, Indiana must prepare to face the Phoenix Mercury at PHX Arena on Thursday, August 7. It is still unknown whether Clark will remain sidelined or return to the court.
