Keenan Allen is projected as a possible Cowboys reinforcement: Is he the player they need?

The Cowboys have made no secret of their need to lighten the load on CeeDee Lamb. He’s been everything Dallas hoped for and more, but the help behind him? Inconsistent at best. Now that the NFL Draft has passed without a major move at receiver, the front office may need to shift gears toward veteran reinforcements.

Names like George Pickens, Courtland Sutton, and Amari Cooper have floated around, but here’s one that hasn’t gone away: Keenan Allen.

At 33, Allen isn’t the burner Dallas fans might crave. But he’s still producing – 744 yards and seven touchdowns last season in a sluggish Chicago offense. His game isn’t built on speed anymore; it’s built on technique, timing, and experience. And that might be exactly what Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy are missing in crunch time.

Tyler Lockett’s deal may have quietly changed everything

Just days ago, the Titans signed Tyler Lockett for only $4 million. For context, Spotrac projected Keenan Allen’s market value at over $11 million annually. Lockett’s number might’ve just reset expectations for veteran wideouts across the board. If Allen is willing to take something closer to $7-8 million? Suddenly, he’s in Dallas’s financial ballpark.

And that matters – especially for a front office that’s notorious for playing it safe in free agency. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Dallas has been “waiting for the right veteran value.” This might be it.

Allen doesn’t need to be WR1. He needs to be the savvy option on third-and-7, the red zone chess piece, the guy who reads defenses like a second QB. Add him to a lineup with Lamb and Jake Ferguson, and suddenly Dallas has options – not just hope.

The Cowboys may not need to swing for the fences. They just need a solid hit. Keenan Allen, at the right price, might be exactly that.
