Keegan Bradley opens up after USA’s Ryder Cup defeat: “I thought, ‘I’m missing out'”

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be unforgettable for different reasons, but especially because Europe conquered the cup away from home, something that had not happened since the ‘Miracle of Medinah’ in 2012. The team captained by Keegan Bradley ‘crashed’ during the first two days of competition with the Europeans, who on Sunday came out with a seven-point lead (4.5-11.5).

The final score was 13-15 after a spectacular finish by the Americans, who came close to achieving a historic feat. The Americans won 8.5 points out of a possible 12 on Sunday, which gave the feeling that everything would have been very close, but in the pairs format they were overwhelmed.

The US captain has been critical of himself and admits that he is not having a good time after the defeat at Bethpage (New York). “From the Ryder Cup until now has been one of the most difficult times of my life,” he said during the press conference for the Travelers Championship, this week’s PGA Tour tournament.

Bradley, 39, reflected: “I’d love to play one more. I don’t know if I’ll get the chance. This damn event has been brutal for me. I don’t know if I want to play,” he said, and immediately corrected himself: “No, I want to [play].” “It’s so weird to love something so much that it just doesn’t bring you anything,” he added.

The captain also commented: “If you win, it’s glory for a lifetime. If you lose, it’s like, ‘I’m going to have to put up with this for the rest of my life'”. In a fit of sincerity, he said: “There’s nothing about me that thinks I’ll ever get over this.” The US leader explained: “You put so much effort into it and all that planning, and then the first two days went as badly as we could ever have imagined.”

Do you regret not playing? “I will always wonder and wish I had the opportunity to play there. The first day of practice, I was on the tee and saw the guys walking together down the street, and I thought, ‘I wish I was playing. That’s what it’s all about. I’m missing out.”
