Kayla Nicole is embarking on a new journey with her podcast The Pre-Game, but she isn’t shying away from reflecting on her past.
In the debut episode, released on April 3, the 33-year-old host tackled a variety of fan questions-some fun, others more introspective. One question, in particular, made her pause before answering with a twinkle in her eye.
“I should’ve screened these questions,” she joked.
How public relationships changed her perspective
Though she didn’t mention her ex by name, Nicole‘s response left no doubt that her experience dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce had a lasting impact. When asked if being in a high-profile relationship altered her approach to dating, she answered without hesitation.
“Absolutely,” she declared.
She then made it clear that she intends to keep her future relationships private.
“The public won’t ever see me with a man ever again until I’m married with kids,” Kayla Nicole added.
Nicole and Kelce had an on-again, off-again relationship for five years, beginning in 2017. Since their breakup-and Kelce’s very public romance with Taylor Swift-Nicole has worked to move forward. However, she has acknowledged that her past has influenced how she navigates relationships today.
Nicole explained that her decision to keep her love life under wraps isn’t about secrecy but rather protecting herself and her partner.
“I don’t think that I ever want to publicly date another man until I am absolutely sure that they are my long-term person,” she shared.
She also addressed the downside of being too open, noting that public scrutiny can create a sense of entitlement among outsiders.
“People think you owe them an explanation for every single thing-every up and down, every happy or sad moment.”
For now, Nicole is embracing a more discreet approach to dating. Laughing, she admitted, “I’m the queen of a private room in a back room in a corner closet. And I have no shame in it.”
With a new podcast and a fresh outlook on relationships, Nicole is carving her own path-one on her own terms.
