Kayla Nicole apologizes for ‘hurtful tweets’ and disappears from social media days after Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift drama

Kayla Nicole has issued a public apology after a series of resurfaced tweets from the 2010s drew widespread criticism, prompting her to delete her X account entirely.

The fitness influencer – and former longtime partner of Travis Kelce – addressed the backlash in a lengthy statement, making it clear that her apology relates specifically to the hateful and offensive tweets she posted many years ago.

It comes only a few days after she was forced to deny claims that she threw shade at her ex-boyfriend Kelce and Taylor Swift with her recent Halloween costume, which caused controversy online.

But a separate wave of backlash emerged when old tweets containing harmful language resurfaced, leading to Nicole’s public apology on Instagram and sudden withdrawal from X.com.

“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago,” Kayla Nicole began.

“Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I’m ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way. They were ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong.”

Her statement continued with a reflection on how she has changed since those tweets were written. “The woman I am today would never use those words or express those kinds of views.

“Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how cruel and harmful online hate can be, and I would never want to add to that world of pain in any form. I have since deleted those tweets and my X account entirely, because I refuse to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate.”

Nicole distances apology from Kelce-Swift Halloween narrative

While the timing of the apology coincided with a surge of conversation around Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift‘s Halloween costumes, sources close to Kayla Nicole insist the two matters are unrelated.

Nicole faced accusations online that she had taken an intentional shot at the couple with her own costume choice – a claim she publicly dismissed.

The resurfaced tweets, however, were different. They contained derogatory language from nearly a decade ago, prompting many X users to call her out and demand accountability.

In her statement, Nicole emphasised accountability and growth, making clear that the apology stems from her past behaviour rather than any recent storyline.

“We are living in a moment where online hate is louder than ever,” she wrote. “I understand the responsibility that comes with having a platform, and I want to be intentional about what I bring into the world.”

Her decision to delete her X account marks a significant step. In her own words: “I refuse to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate.”

A call for empathy amid overwhelming scrutiny

The final section of Kayla Nicole‘s apology highlighted her commitment to growth, empathy and personal accountability, themes she has spoken about often in her work.

Her words come at a time when public figures are subjected to intense, often unforgiving online scrutiny – particularly within the orbit of celebrities as prominent as Kelce and Swift.

Though Nicole has stepped away from social media for now, her statement suggests she hopes to move forward by demonstrating accountability rather than engaging in further public conflict.

Whether she returns to social platforms remains unclear. But one thing is certain: Nicole wants the public to understand her apology is about personal growth, not celebrity drama.
