Kansas City CEO reacts to Taylor Swift’s mega impact on the Chiefs: ‘57% of our fans are female’

The influence of Taylor Swift has extended far beyond the music charts, reaching deep into the Kansas City Chiefs organization as the owner, Clark Hunt, described her relationship with tight end Travis Kelce as transformative.

Looking at fan engagement, the 60-year-old NFL executive acknowledged how the Grammy-winning has unintentionally reshaped the team’s fan demographics, marking a shift in the football landscape.

“It’s been a whirlwind, I would say,” Hunt said on The Pat McAfee Show. “For the organization over the last two years since Taylor literally stepped into our lives.

“She’s done an amazing job, unintentionally, of increasing our female fanbase. We used to be about a 50-50 ratio, male-to-female fanbase, and now 57 percent of our fans are female.

“Which I think is probably the highest in the National Football League, so there’s absolutely been a Taylor Swift effect.”

Hunt also expressed his support for the high-profile couple, praising Kelce and Swift as “an amazing couple” and describing their appearances together as “really special.”

Swift first started attending Kansas City games in September 2023 with a visit against the Chicago Bears at the Arrowhead, shortly before she and the Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, began officially and publicly dating.

Her appearances quickly became a focal point for fans and media, as she embraced the team’s culture while supporting Kelce on the field and marked a new wave of interest in the NFL from non-football fans.

Swift picks her favorite moment from her maiden NFL season

Swift herself reflected on her “rookie” NFL season during her August 13 appearance on the New Heights podcast as the star songwriter and artist recounted the moment she first stepped onto the field with the Chiefs after their 2024 AFC Championship victory.

Initially uncertain about the protocols and her place, Swift recalled Kelce‘s mother, Donna, encouraging her to join the celebrations after Kansas City had beaten the Baltimore Ravens to reach Super Bowl LVIII.

“The first time I stepped on the field, which would have been when you won the AFC Championship,” Taylor said to Travis on New Heights. “The first season that I was with you, and it was in Baltimore, and we’re in the suite and you just won the AFC Championship.

“We’re freaking out and everybody’s screaming, and [Travis’] mom goes, ‘Alright, let’s go down to the field’. I was like, ‘What, we’re doing, what do you mean? We’re going where?’

“And she’s like, ‘We’re going down to the field,’ and I was like, ‘Did he say that that’s OK?’ Cause we hadn’t talked about this.”

Kelce later expressed his pride in Swift joining him for the moment, saying, “I was so proud that you came down there to join me for that moment.”

Swift returned to the field two weeks later at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as the Chiefs defeated San Francisco in overtime, 25-22, to capture the 2024 Super Bowl title.
