At just 18 years old, Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of President Donald Trump and a rising name in golf, has quietly assembled a trio of developments that mark a turning point in her sporting and personal ambitions.
The granddaughter of President Donald Trump recently found herself at a driving range side by side with one of golf’s biggest stars, Rory McIlroy, in a session that turned heads on social media and sparked fresh conversation about her burgeoning golf trajectory.
At her debut LPGA event last November, Trump received a sponsor’s exemption to compete at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
Despite navigating a challenging course and a stacked field of seasoned professionals, Trump walked away with lessons that extended far beyond her final scoreboard position.
Trump carded a firstround 83, putting her last among 108 competitors, and followed that with a significantly improved 75 in round two, still shy of the 36hole cut line but an indication of her ability to adjust after early nerves.
The results, while not headlinegrabbing in a traditional sense, reflected a young player absorbing elite competition under bright lights.
“I was definitely more nervous than I expected,” Trump said after her opening round. “I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots.”
Her candor was echoed by one of the sport’s more established figures, Bryson DeChambeau, who watched Trump compete and spoke openly about her demeanor on the golf course.
“She shot fiveover the second round, which is really, it’s actually really impressive. We didn’t know how she was going to do, she handled herself very well, and what a great opportunity.”
Entrepreneurial ambitions with a personal brand
Off the course, Trump has also made moves in the world of lifestyle and fashion. She previously unveiled a new clothing line under her “KT” brand, debuting apparel with her initials prominently displayed and engaging her substantial social media audience to promote the collection.
“This collection is something I dreamed about for a long time, and I’m so grateful it’s finally here,” she wrote on Instagram, reflecting on the launch.
“From the quality of the fabric to the details in the designs, I wanted to create a piece that isn’t just merch but a staple you can wear anywhere. There are clean pieces you can mix, match, and make your own. I can’t wait to see how you style them!”
In August 2024, Trump committed to play college golf at the University of Miami.
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Miami. I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point. I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support. I would also like to thank my Mormor for always believing in me,” she announced at the time.
