Kai Trump, the teenage granddaughter of President Donald J. Trump, officially signed her national letter of intent to join the University of Miami women’s golf program on November 7, 2025.

The signing occurred inside The Benjamin School gym in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, just days before her LPGA Tour debut at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican on November 13, 2025.

The 18-year-old will compete alongside Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, Lilia Vu, Lexi Thompson, and Brooke Henderson, giving her exposure to a world-class field during her debut as she transitions from high school to professional golf.

At the ceremony, Kai was surrounded by family, coaches, and classmates. She had verbally committed in August 2024, but this formal signing confirmed her path to Miami, marking a major step in her competitive golf career.

“I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don [Jr.],” Kai said. “For always supporting me through my journey.

“I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support.”

She also praised Miami‘s coaching staff, led by Janice Olivencia and Jim Garren. Under Olivencia, the Hurricanes won the White Sands Invitational in October 2025, demonstrating the competitive environment she will join in fall 2026.

The Benjamin School celebrated seventeen student-athletes signing with collegiate programs, including golfers Drew Sterling and Kaitlyn Hummers, reinforcing the school’s reputation as a pipeline for high-level collegiate golf talent.

Head coach Toby Harbeck has mentored generations of golfers, including the sons of Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, and Justin Leonard. He now guides both Kai Trump and Charlie Woods, Tiger Woods‘ son, continuing his influence on elite young players.

Kai Trump prepares for LPGA debut

With more than six million followers and a NIL valuation estimated between $1.2 million and $2 million, Kai merges competitive skill with a digital presence, bridging traditional golf with a new, social media-driven audience.

Her LPGA debut has sparked conversation about her sponsor exemption, but officials maintain her skills, following, and media influence can positively impact the tour, introducing a new generation of fans to women’s golf.

“My dream has been to compete with the best in the world on the LPGA Tour,” Kai said. “This event will be an incredible experience.

“I look forward to meeting and competing against so many of my heroes and mentors.”

Whether she makes the cut or not, Kai Trump has already achieved a milestone. A college future at Miami, a professional debut, and a large online following ensure her career will be closely watched.

Anika Sorenstam, the event’s namesake, praised Kai‘s commitment, saying, “She has a bright future and is committed to the University of Miami to play next year.”
