Kai Trump ‘100%’ focused on pro golf after committing to Miami

Kai Trump has made her intentions clear. The granddaughter of President Donald Trump is not just committing to play golf at the University of Miami – she is committing to the path of a future professional.

Back in August 2024, Kai announced her verbal commitment to the Hurricanes. She will officially enroll in 2026, but her focus is already locked in on what lies ahead. Despite juggling content creation and a large social media following, Kai insists that golf comes first.

“Yeah, it is. 100 percent,” she told Fox News Digital, when asked if going pro is her ultimate goal.

It is a dream that started early. Trump picked up a golf club at just two years old and has been driven ever since. Now, with one more year of high school to go, she is laser focused on what she needs to do to elevate her game before joining Miami’s golf program.

“Just playing a lot of events, just gaining experience,” she explained. “But also practice. If I have two hours, I’m not gonna hit a few balls, go on my phone and scroll. No, I’m going to take full-on advantage with the time I have on the course.”

She also emphasized how time in the gym and more frequent rounds will help her physically prepare for the transition to college-level competition. Her decision to choose Miami was rooted in what the program could offer in terms of development.

“The more golf I play, the better I’ll do. Getting experience. Miami gave me a great opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to that,” she said.

Competitive by nature and committed to the grind

Trump is well aware of the balancing act that comes with being a student-athlete – especially when combined with the demands of content creation and a growing business presence. Still, when she steps onto campus, golf will take precedence.

She describes her competitive drive as something instinctive, possibly tied to growing up in a large and competitive household.

“I don’t know, it might just be a family gene or something,” she said. “Yeah, on the course, that’s something you can’t really teach. But I just have a very competitive side to me, especially having brothers and a big family. You have to be competitive sometimes.”

That edge will be key as she works toward her long term goal of making it onto a professional tour.

A brand off the course: Trump partners with Accelerator

As college athletes navigate the growing world of NIL deals, Trump is already ahead of the curve. She recently signed a partnership with Accelerator Active Energy, becoming the company’s first golf NIL athlete – and also an equity partner.

Accelerator is the same brand behind the high profile “Livvy Fund” launched with gymnast Livvy Dunne to support female athletes. Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is also involved as a fellow equity partner.

Trump helped launch the partnership with a presidential-themed announcement video in which she addressed “fellow Americans and content creators,” blending her golf ambitions with her signature style.

“It’s pretty cool, especially being partners with such great athletes and being up there too with them,” she said.

As she continues building her game and her brand, Kai Trump is stepping into a spotlight few 17-year-olds are prepared for. But with determination, discipline, and a clear vision, she’s ready to take her shot.
