Juventus legend puts Cristiano Ronaldo as an example for young players above Lionel Messi

We have been fortunate that for more than a decade we were able to enjoy two true extraterrestrials. Although they are still active, they are deeply missed in the world’s top leagues. Different styles, but the same goal: to be the best in the world. We are talking about the talent and mentality of the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and the magic of the Argentine, Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi achieved everything with Barcelona in Spain, while Cristiano Ronaldo did so with Manchester United and, without a doubt, lived his best years at Real Madrid, where he conquered the world. However, everything eventually comes to an end, and both now find themselves in more exotic leagues: Messi is enjoying his time with Inter Miami in the MLS, while Cristiano plays in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr.

Their rivalry reached its peak over nearly ten years, between 2009 and 2018, when LaLiga became pure madness. The Clásicos between Real Madrid and Barcelona were simply spectacular and captured the attention of the entire world. Today, that same magic has not come close to being repeated.

Comparisons between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi never end

The historic Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has shared his opinion on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. While showing respect for both players, the former Italian national team player clearly expressed his preference for the Portuguese star and presented him as an example for young players aiming to take their careers to the highest level.

“Advice for young players: follow Cristiano’s example, not Messi’s. Cristiano Ronaldo was already a star, but he became even greater through hard work. Lionel Messi is a talent blessed by God. He has so many qualities that he doesn’t need to train,” Marchisio stated.

There is no doubt that debates and comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will always exist. They are simply two of the greatest players in football history-arguably the greatest for many fans. There may be positive or negative opinions about each, but one thing is certain: little by little, even though they are still active, they are starting to be missed.

For now, Cristiano Ronaldo, at 41 years of age, will try once again to make history at a World Cup, while Lionel Messi has not yet confirmed whether he will participate in the next tournament.
