Jutta Leerdman’s career has been on a steady rise. Since her professional debut in 2018, the Dutch skater has achieved significant victories, culminating last week with Olympic gold. However, these triumphs haven’t been without their critics, and today, Jutta fought back.
The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games were Leerdman’s crowning achievement. With a gold medal in the 1000 meters of speed skating and a silver in the 500 meters, Jutta etched her name in Olympic history.
Moreover, she secured her victory in the 1000 meters, setting an Olympic record with a time of 1:12.13 minutes, surpassing her compatriot Femke Kok’s record by 0.28 seconds.
The triumph reignited criticism against Leerdman, ranging from her relationship with influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul to her makeup. But far from being intimidated, Jutta responded forcefully to her critics.
Jutta Leerdman is not intimidated
This Thursday, Leerdman posted a photo on Instagram showing her with her mascara running, crying after her victory. The Olympic champion accompanied the image with a message of empowerment.
For me, this picture captured everything my Olympics stood for,” the skater began. “This moment proves you don’t have to become less of yourself to achieve something great.
The model and influencer also reminded everyone, “That your looks don’t define you as a person or as an athlete. That if you work hard and stay determined, it will all come together.”
She emphasized the irony of having been criticized for wearing makeup during competitions, “when all it ever did was give me confidence and make me feel feminine and powerful.”
Her fans support Jutta
Leerdman’s message generated massive support from her followers, including former gymnast Olivia Dunne and her biggest fan, Jake Paul, who simply replied, “Iconic.“
Other followers responded:
- “You’re an inspiration to so many.”
- “So proud of you!”
- “Beautifully said!”
- “Goosebumps. What a powerful woman you are!”
- “Deep respect.”
Now, all that remains is to wait and see where Olympic triumph will take Jutta Leerdman.
