In just a few days, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will step into the ring to face Jake Paul. For many fans, it is a moment of vile exhibition far from the seriousness of a real boxing match. But, once this “amateur fight” was agreed, the Sinaloa boxer shared a controversial list of boxers he considers superior to him, harshly criticizing the influencer, who definitely has no professional preparation of a real athlete.

The son of the boxing legend in Mexico, has had a very controversial career and remains immersed in constant controversy. A decade ago, many analysts believed that Chavez Jr. would become the next star of Mexican boxing. As the son of the legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, he carried a very heavy cross and who was not up to the height of a name with one of the greatest legacies of the sport, but the lack of ambition, the lack of professionalism outside the ring and a life without economic worries, led the “junior” to face a sporting career with shades of mediocrity.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s reflection on his opponents

Unfortunately, he has not lived up to those expectations. In recent years, Chavez Jr. has agreed to fight a wide variety of opponents without category, from retired MMA fighters to influencers such as Jake Paul, who are undoubtedly controversial figures in the boxing world. That is precisely why his next fight has attracted so much attention from fans.

When asked which boxers he considers better than him, JC replied with the names of Pernell Whitaker, Roberto Duran, Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton, among others, choosing not to comment or object. It was an answer that lacked the seriousness due in a formal interview. However, this is what “Junior” said, lack of seriousness and commitment in the world of boxing.

Julio Cesar Chavez belittles Jake Paul

Since the fight was announced, both fighters have exchanged verbal blows. Now, Chavez Jr. downplays Jake Paul’s “quality”. When his opponent’s name was mentioned, he simply raised both hands, one clearly lower than the other, visually indicating that he sees the influencer as far below him in terms of boxing skill.

The son of the legendary Mexican boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Jake Paul will face each other next Saturday, June 28, in a fight scheduled at cruiserweight. The card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, will begin at around 10:00 pm (US Eastern time) and the former Mexican middleweight champion will step into the ring at around 11 pm. (1:00am on Sunday, June 29 for East Coast time).
