Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is preparing to return to the ring after a difficult few weeks following his arrest in Los Angeles and deportation to Mexico, where he was released, although he remains on trial for alleged affiliation with the Sinaloa Cartel.
Since then, Julio Cesar Chavez’s son has been a little out of the spotlight, but he gave an interview to TUDN in which he talks about his situation.
Chavez Jr: “It was a shock, I was stopped by 5 patrols”
In a conversation with Carlos Aguilar, Chavez Jr. reaffirmed his innocence as the court proceedings against him continue.
“I am linked to the process… we are in the hands of the authorities… I was told that I had to sign every month and I could leave the country or box, as long as there is a permit to do so in a good way.
It was a shock to me, I never expected to be arrested… I went out for a ride on the scooter and on the second lap five patrol cars arrived.
“When they first arrested me, there in California they took me to a somewhat provisional jail, there they fill out the paperwork because they arrested you and everything and I said ‘they are going to deport me, send me with my dad, but no, that’s where the journey began’.”
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.: “I have mistakes, but I’m not a bad person”
JC Chavez Jr. is grateful for the support he has always received from his parents, acknowledges his mistakes, but denies having done what he is accused of.
“Yes, of course (I’m innocent). I’m not this drug dealer and in Culiacan and everyone knows it. Beating people for a cartel or those things I don’t, thank God I haven’t had the need.
I had a lot of personal problems, I don’t want to say it like that, but I went crazy for a moment and did a lot of things and despite that nothing bad happened.
“I love my dad and my mom very much, I really appreciate that they have supported me and that they forgive me. I have always been a good son, a good friend and a good father. I have many mistakes, of course, but I have never been a bad person.”
