Julio Cesar Chavez Jr defends himself on social media against harsh criticism from fans

Millions of people watched on Saturday, June 28, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s terrible display in his return to the ring after 31 months of absence, where it was evident the lack of offensive and defensive technique and he looked fearful to face Jake Paul in much of the fight.

This last point took place in the third round when the YouTuber was feinting to throw the punch, where Junior only took steps backwards instead of raising his guard, receiving or dodging the punch and counterattacking with a combination of punches.

However, that was not Chavez Jr.’s strategy. His goal was to survive the night in Anaheim and collect a hefty $750,000 check. After the fight, the public’s criticism on social networks was as strong as the defeat suffered last weekend. In the face of such a “wave” of attacks on social networks, he uploaded a short video, where he exposed “his arguments” where he claims that he gave “a good show”.

Chavez Jr. washes his hands of defeat against Jake Paul

It didn’t take long for “The Son of the Legend” to break his silence after his defeat against Jake Paul and in a video he uploaded to social networks he can be seen with the marks of the fight on his face, but he lashed out at the judges of the fight. The Sinaloa native said: “I couldn’t knock him out, I couldn’t knock out Jake Paul, anyway. Anyway, the judges want whoever they want, I gave a great show and I beat him up, as I said,” a very weak statement.

If the purpose was to convince the public why he could not beat the American under a physical situation, really his words were very simple and that negative shows that he is still not ready to return as a professional boxer, where he said he is ready “for the next opponent”. The Mexican only gave a good round, the ninth, and that’s because Jake Paul looked exhausted, who in the same way, is a character without technique and only has strength in his punches.

Julio Cesar Chavez was disappointed after Junior’s performance

It was evident that Chavez Jr did not seek to exchange blows with Jake Paul. He only covered himself and moved away from his opponent, which unleashed the tremendous look of disappointment on his father’s face who was watching the fight, and with his face said everything he thought about his son. In sporting terms, we can criticize the terrible performance that Chavez Jr gave in the ring, but we must also recognize that the fighter achieved a great personal triumph as he was able to overcome his addiction problems and get back in the ring.

However, people do not look to an athlete for the opportunity to applaud him for overcoming an addiction, which is not an example for society. Even on social networks there were comments that it is preferable to see his father back in the ring, who would return the honor and dignity to the name “Chavez” instead of continuing to be tarnished with the poor performances and poor arguments of Junior.
