Artur Beterbiev‘s controversial win over Dmitry Bivol made one thing clear: the boxing world did not agree with the judges’ decision. Different voices, some with more authority than others, have made their feelings known on the fight of the year. The latest to do so is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who gave his opinion on the result.
Beterbiev was declared undisputed champion in the 175 lbs. category, that is already in the books of boxing history, in the end, that is what we will see in the annals of pugilism, but almost nobody agrees, just like Chavez Jr.
Chavez Jr.’s opinion on Bivol vs. Beterbiev
“In round 10 he had Bivol up by one point, but he let the last two rounds go. he gave them away! It was similar to the Oscar de la Hoya vs. Tito Trinidad fight. No judge saw Bivol win, and that’s not a coincidence. There was no robbery, but I would have liked a draw,” opined Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, who is not living his best moment in boxing, but wanted to give his verdict on the fight.
It is true that the decision raised a lot of controversy, but it is also probable that this Saturday’s fight will be the door to one of those famous trilogies that leave a mark in the boxing world, since both are the best pound for pound in the light heavyweight division.
Both Bivol and Beterbiev are among the best in boxing right now and most experts, commentators, managers and even boxers, saw a victory for Canelo‘s victimizer, Dmitry Bivol, but the judges saw something different, and finally they are the ones in charge of defining the top champion at 175 pounds.
