JuJu Smith-Schuster’s fiancée, Laura Kruk, offered a cheerful and relieved update on social media following the chaotic post-game brawl that broke out between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions on Sunday night.
In a TikTok posted after the on-field excitement died down, Kruk shared a video of her and Smith-Schuster doing their celebratory handshake.
“No broken nose and a CHIEFS WIN,” the caption read, putting to rest concerns after the star receiver had his helmet ripped off during the fight.
Branch’s attitude after the defeat sparked the fight
The wild scene erupted after Lions defensive back Brian Branch seemingly blew off a handshake attempt from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Branch then approached Smith-Schuster, sparking a melee that saw players from both teams, including Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco, get involved.
For his role in instigating the altercation, the NFL has suspended Branch for one game. The bad blood appears to have started earlier in the contest.
Late in the fourth quarter, Smith-Schuster delivered a punishing block on Branch during a run play, which likely fueled the defensive back’s post-game animosity.
The Chiefs are already preparing to face the Raiders
The drama unfolded after what was Smith-Schuster’s best performance of the 2025 season, in which he caught three passes for 57 yards. With the fight now in the rearview mirror, the Chiefs will turn their attention to a Week 7 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The game will be crucial to the Chiefs’ hopes of staying in the playoff race. For the Raiders, however, it will be a chance to right the ship with a win over last year’s Super Bowl runner-up.
