The New York Mets secured a crucial 10-8 victory over the Detroit Tigers and the star of the night was Juan Soto. The outfield star had a remarkable performance at the plate, hitting a grand slam and a two-run triple to drive in six runs

Soto’s performance not only secured victory for his team, but also served as a reminder of why the Mets made such a big effort to sign him and that he is on the verge of becoming the superstar everyone expected.

The figure of the moment

Soto’s feat puts him in a privileged place in baseball history, as he became the only player in the modern era to hit a grand slam and a multi-run triple to put his team ahead in the same game.

After the game, Soto himself spoke about the timeliness of his performance, with September already underway and the Mets fighting for a playoff spot. “This is the moment,” he said. “I feel like the team that gets hot in September is the one that goes all the way.”

Soto’s numbers

Despite a slow start to the season, Soto has completely changed his pace. His numbers speak for themselves: an OPS of .907, 36 home runs and 88 RBIs so far this season. His August was historic, becoming the first player in MLB history to record at least 10 home runs, 10 stolen bases and 25 walks in a single month.

Soto’s performance is getting better and better and with his statements he hopes to wake up the team and above all, to return the illusion to the fans.
