Soto’s arrival at the Mets caused quite a stir, as the team paid $765 million to recruit him on a 15-year contract, plus various bonuses for achievements.
In the midst of accusations of treason, Soto chose not to continue his career with the Yankees, a team with which he was key to the return of the Manhattan Mules to a World Series, something that had not happened since 2009, the last time the Bronx Bombers were champions in Major League Baseball
The Dominican will be the teammate of Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor, a pairing that is already beginning to generate high expectations, at least among MLB Network commentators.
Soto’s contract surpassed the one the Dodgers offered Shohei Ohtani in 2024, who along with Mookie Betts were the architects of the recent World Series title they won in five games against the Dodgers.
The excitement for the new Mets of Lindor and Soto comes to MLB Network
On MLB Network, analysts Dan Plesac and Greg Amsinger conducted an analysis of the best current duos in Major League Baseball, ahead of the 2025 season.
According to Amsinger, the duo of Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor will be the best next season, and currently has better numbers than the Ohtani Betts pair.
“These two guys, one after the other, are going to be in the middle of the order… There’s a short list of guys that if I come out of retirement I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with… This is the best duo in the game right now“
Faced with these statements regarding Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, MLB Network’s followers on Instagram did not hesitate to react, calling it ridiculous to say that Soto and Lindor can currently be a better team than Ohtani and Betts.
