Juan Manuel Marquez advises Terence Crawford against moving up divisions to face Canelo: “It’s a terrible idea”

Juan Manuel Marquez has always been a harsh critic of Canelo Alvarez and this time was no exception, although his attack was more directed at Terence Crawford, as he was the one who insisted on the fight that is expected in September in Las Vegas.

The fight would be made official after May 3, first Canelo must overcome William Scull, where the super middleweight world titles will be at stake. The idea is that Saul will be crowned unified champion once again

However, the attacks against both boxers continue, as Crawford will move up two divisions, something very unusual, but it will undoubtedly be the biggest challenge of his career

“Weight classes exist for a reason”

That’s why Juan Manuel Marquez, true to his style, declared that it makes no sense for this fight to take place.

“I don’t like the fight because, in boxing, we have divisions. Terence Crawford is a good fighter in lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight and super welterweight,” Marquez told Fight Hub TV.

The Mexican points out that Crawford looked slow and bad in his last fight against Madrimov at 154

“I remember when Terence fought Madrimov. He looked slow, without power, and with two more divisions up to 168, it’s a difficult fight for Crawford. He’s a great fighter, he has good defense and good combination punching. But I think the super middleweight category doesn’t suit him,” said the former Mexican boxer

Jaron doesn’t see Crawford as a favorite against Canelo

On the other hand, Jaron Ennis gave some words that can motivate ‘Bud‘, as he only sees a 30% to 40% chance that he can beat Canelo

“It’s a big jump to go from 154 to 168. I guess the world wants to see it. I think it’s 60-40 Canelo, or 70-30 Canelo. Alvarez has been in that category and has fought bigger fighters. So he’s used to that category,” he told FightHype

Crawford uses Lester Martinez as a sparring partner to prepare against Canelo, but his slow and different style makes him of little use, according to reports.

It will be interesting to see how ‘Bud‘ reads these tips and criticisms, he will surely take them as motivation to shock everyone in Las Vegas and leave all those who doubted him in shock.
