Jeffrey Epstein’s tentacles reached every aspect of U.S. political and business life. As demonstrated by the latest batch of documents released by the Department of Justice (DOJ), even Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris was connected to the deceased businessman.
This Friday, the DOJ released another batch of documents related to the so-called Epstein Files. Harris’s name is mentioned several times in the new releases.
However, as Ryan W. Briggs and Max Marin of the Inquirer clarified, none of the documents “contain any indication that Harris was involved with sexual misconduct.”
The documents that do mention Harris include conversations about payments, other documents, and an invitation to Epstein’s New York mansion, the acceptance of which remains unclear.
Harris denies any relationship with Epstein
As soon as the contents of the documents were made public, Harris issued a statement clarifying his relationship with the deceased financier, arrested in 2019 for sex trafficking of minors.
“Josh Harris never had an independent relationship with Jeffrey Epstein,” a spokesperson for Harris read the statement to the ABC affiliate in the DC Area.
“Harris sought to prevent Epstein’s attempts to develop a corporate relationship with Apollo,” the spokesperson explained.
“As these emails indicate, Harris sought to avoid meeting with Epstein, canceling meetings and having others return his calls.”
Harris is a founding partner of Apollo Global Management, a capital management firm that invests primarily in alternative assets, such as hedge funds, non-performing loans, and collateralized loan obligations.
Fans rise up against Josh Harris
Harris’s management of the Sixers has long lacked fan support, and the recent revelations have worsened the situation.
Since the release of the documents, some fans have taken to social media to demand that Harris sell the team:
