Josh Giddey signs multimillion-dollar contract with the Chicago Bulls worth $100 million

Incredible-The Chicago Bulls made a statement in free agency by locking in the renewal of Josh Giddey, who signed a five-year, $100 million contract. The deal guarantees the talented Australian guard’s stay with the franchise through the 2028-29 NBA season, at a rate of $25 million per year, with no additional options that could alter the agreement.

The player’s agent, Daniel Moldovan of Lighthouse Sports, had initiated talks with the front office before free agency began. Although there were initial financial differences-Giddey was seeking a salary close to $30 million per year-both sides agreed that his future was in Chicago. League sources indicate that the Bulls never considered a sign-and-trade, making it clear that the guard was untouchable in the organization’s plans.

The decision reflects the front office’s confidence in Giddey, who, at just 22 years old, has already established himself as one of the league’s most complete young talents. His court vision, ability to generate offense, and versatility make him an ideal partner for Matas Buzelis, with whom the Bulls aim to build a solid foundation to compete in the coming years.

Giddey was the key trade for the Bulls

Giddey’s arrival in Chicago came before the start of the 2024-25 season, in a direct trade that sent Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Although the move was initially questioned, over time the Bulls confirmed they saw the Australian as a player capable of leading the next phase of the project. Meanwhile, Caruso thrived in Oklahoma, helping the Thunder win their first championship since relocating to the city.

Today, Chicago’s gamble seems justified. Giddey has proven to be more than just a promising player-he’s a playmaker who impacts multiple facets of the game and has already earned a leading role on the roster.

The Bulls and the numbers that back up the investment

During the last season, the guard posted stats that reinforce the Bulls’ decision: 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game, with 46.5% shooting from the field and 37.8% from three-point range-his best mark since entering the league. He also recorded seven triple-doubles in 70 games, ranking among the top ten most productive players in the NBA in that category.

With this multimillion-dollar contract, Josh Giddey becomes the new face of the Chicago Bulls-a franchise betting on youth and continuity to return to prominence in the NBA.
